Happiness Day 5 (I am posting every day for 8 days about one thing that makes me happy. The other posts are friends locked, but this one is public to be sure to give Swistle props) Today the thing that made me happiest is my husband coming home. It wasn't even a long business trip but I missed him so much. Best kiss is the coming home kiss. Other things that made me happy today: Thing the second - I have "Meet Me in St. Louis" on right now and it is one of my favorite holiday movies even though only one section of it is Christmas. I love Judy Garland and the songs and the costumes. I am a great big nerd and I don't care. You wanna make something of it? Do ya? Thing the third - I am making Swistle's Grandma's awesome gingersnaps. recipe here: http://www.sundrybuzz.com/2008/09/23/swistles-grandmas-ginger-snaps/ I am making them for a cookie exchange at work and they are fabuloso because 1) they are YUMMY 2) they are EASY TO MAKE and 3) I have all the ingredients! Thing the fourth - Jeff and I ordered a small basket from Harry and David for ourselves and it arrived today. I rationalized it away at the time because ordering the basket meant that we got free shipping on the stuff we sent to his family, so it would be crazy not to order it. It is full of decadent treats of intense yumminess.

Mostly the usual decorations this year... the soft pumpkins... I actually ordered a pumpkin for Harrison this year just like the older kids but it hasn't arrived yet. Then of course I wanted a bear just like the older kids have, but no one makes those bears anymore. Luckily we live in an age where they have a little something called the INTERNETS. I was so delighted to find the exact same bear by the exact same maker at an excellent price on ebay! Imagine my surprise when it arrived and it was miniaturized! This year's painted pumpkin is delighting me no end. I have been reading "Where the Wild Things Are" to Harrison every night and he loves the book, loves the characters... Here is the pumpkin with the girls and Harrison each illustrating a character... (careful observers may spot gingerelly in the background...) We had veggie burgers and french fries and milkshakes for dinner tonight and are all half watching "Shine A Light". Life is good.

In the vein of apples not falling far from their trees.... Also? Kids are weird. We put Harrison to bed each night IN the bed and yet most nights he sleeps on the floor.

Subject: everyone smiles as you drift past the flowers that grow so incredibly high Time: 7:31 pm. Mood: with tangerine trees. Music: and marmalade skies.

So, the foundation is settling on our house and we have some cracks in the walls. Most of them don't bother me, but this one does. You can't see it that well, but from where I always sit in this room I can see it really well. It spiders down from the half wall to the cutout. ( Wanna see what I did? )

Subject: Vacation all I ever wanted Time: 7:40 am. Mood: had to get away. Music: Vacation.

School starts next Monday so this summer is winding down. We had an excellent time at the beach again this year. I love this trip! Here are the kids packed into the back of the minivan ready to go! and the parents! ( more! more! more! )
